Summer 2026 Newsletter
A Message from Steve and Sheila
As we continue to build on the strong foundation that each of you has helped create, I am pleased to share several exciting updates with our team. These milestones are a direct reflection of the commitment, professionalism, and heart that you bring to your work every single day.
We are thrilled to announce that LifeSkills has been awarded a new one-year contract at Cascades Job Corps Center. This contract represents a meaningful opportunity for the team to continue delivering high-quality services that transform the lives of young people and set them on pathways to meaningful careers. Our partnership at Cascades is a testament to the trust that our federal partners place in this organization and in all of you. We look forward to continuing that important work and to strengthening this relationship in the months ahead.
We are also proud to highlight two exceptional performance achievements that speak directly to the quality of work our teams deliver every day. Our Philadelphia Forest Service Outreach and Admissions contract is currently ranked #1 in the nation for the program year — a remarkable accomplishment that reflects the dedication and professionalism of that team.
Additionally, our Chicago Career Transition Services contract is ranked #3 in the nation for the program year through May. These rankings are not just numbers — they represent real outcomes for the participants we serve and the high standards our teams uphold. Please join me in recognizing the outstanding staff behind these results. You have made LSC proud.
We are also excited to share that LifeSkills will launch a refreshed company website in July! Our new online presence better reflects who we are as an organization — our mission, our capabilities, and the breadth of services we provide to the communities and partners we serve. We encourage you to explore the new site and share it with your networks. Your feedback is always welcome as we work to keep our digital presence as strong and professional as the work you do on the ground each day.
None of what we accomplish as an organization would be possible without the dedication and hard work of every member of our team. Whether you are working directly with participants on the front lines, providing essential behind-the-scenes support, managing complex contracts, or developing the training and resources that others rely on — your contributions matter deeply.
We want to take a moment to sincerely thank each and every one of you for showing up with excellence, compassion, and resilience. The culture you have built at LSC is something we are genuinely proud of, and it is what sets us apart. You are the reason our partners trust us, our participants succeed, and our organization continues to grow.
In March, Q4 Solutions started work on a 9-month engagement with the State of Nevada. The program includes six custom leadership development workshops, assessments, and coaching for nearly 200 senior leaders in the executive branch. Over the past three months, every member of our team has touched this project in some way – from scheduling coaching sessions to creating workshop content, it’s been a real team effort. And nowhere was that more apparent than our on-site Train the Trainer meeting in April (pictured above). Our three program facilitators joined us in St. Louis to get up to speed on the first three workshops. We spent two intensive days testing our material and tweaking to ensure it was ready for the client. This May, we delivered the first workshop in both Carson City and Las Vegas, administered Hogan assessments, and had our first round of coaching sessions with the participants. It’s been a busy few months for Q4!
Perry Isaac-A Job Corps Success Story
When Perry Isaac walked through the doors of Mingo Job Corps Center at 18 years old, he already had his high school diploma in hand and a clear sense of purpose. What he needed was a career — and Job Corps gave him one.
As a non-resident student, Perry balanced the demands of the Heavy Equipment program with a part-time job outside of the center — a testament to his work ethic and time management skills. Rather than slowing him down, that dual commitment only sharpened his focus.
Perry excelled throughout his tenure at the center, completing the Heavy Equipment program in less than a year. His instructors recognized him as a standout participant — reliable, motivated, and ready for the workforce long before many of his peers.
That readiness translated directly into opportunity. Perry accepted a position as a Heavy Equipment Operator in Charlotte, North Carolina, earning $27.70 per hour — well above entry-level wages in many industries. He is currently working on the construction of a taxiway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, contributing to critical transportation infrastructure that serves millions of travelers each year.
Kaiden, who is enrolled in the Kansas Connect program, is making strides toward his future by actively working to complete his GED. He is doing a work-based learning experience at Ready For Good, where he builds furniture with care and dedication. Through delivering furniture, he is gaining real-world responsibility and teamwork experience. His customer service duties are helping him grow strong communication and professionalism skills. He recently took an important step by completing a financial literacy meeting with his connector. With this new knowledge, he is becoming more confident in managing his money. He has set a clear goal to save for a car, showing his commitment to independence and long-term success. This journey highlights his determination, growth, and the bright future ahead of him.
Office Safety–Slips, Trips, and Falls
According to OSHA, slips, trips, and falls are among the most common causes of workplace injuries. Good housekeeping practices are essential in the workplace and reduce the potential for slip, trip and fall incidents. OSHA defines a walking/working surface as any horizontal or vertical surface on or through which an employee walks, works, or gains access to a work area or workplace location.
Some examples of walking/working surfaces include offices, lobbies, conference rooms, hallways, break rooms, aisles, bathrooms, supply closets, stairways, elevators, ramps, parking lots, sidewalks, step stools, and ladders.
To prevent slips and trips ensure all walking and working surfaces are free from hazards such as: uneven floors, peeling laminate or broken tiles, extension cords or other cables, leaks and spills, trash, boxes or containers, loose carpets, mats or rugs, slippery surfaces, poor lighting in the area, unmarked level changes, open lower drawers and cabinets, and items that should be in storage.
Remember these important tips to prevent slips, trips and falls:
- Short-term slip and trip hazards should be marked with cautionary floor stands or signs, barricade tape, or other suitable warning signs or barriers.
- All cables should be run behind walls, desks or other furniture. Never lay cables across a hallway, aisle, or work area that requires employees to step over it when they are walking.
- Always clean up spills immediately and post wet floor warning signs when appropriate.
- Ensure good housekeeping is maintained.
- Do not carry items that will obstruct your view when you are walking.
- Never stand on a chair to reach up high; always use a ladder or a step stool.
- Always close all drawers and cabinets immediately after use.
- Report any workplace slip, trip, and fall hazards you notice immediately.

Whole-Person Care: Why Holistic Health Matters
True health is more than the absence of illness. Holistic care recognizes the deep connection between body, mind, and spirit — and addresses all of them. By treating physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual needs together, this approach gets to the root cause of health challenges rather than simply managing symptoms.
Holistic wellness is built on five key pillars: physical health through nutrition and preventative care; mental and emotional well-being through stress management; strong social relationships that boost immunity and resilience; a safe and supportive environment; and spiritual grounding through purpose and meaning.
What sets holistic care apart is that it empowers individuals to take an active role in their own health. Rather than prescribing a quick fix, holistic providers look at the full picture — lifestyle, environment, and emotional state — and may integrate proven medical treatments with evidence-based therapies for more complete, lasting results.
The outcome is a higher quality of life, greater self-awareness, and a stronger foundation for long-term wellness.
The team at the HHC provides counseling and coaching services to customers in the local area. In addition to these services red light healing, reflexology, acupuncture, massage, chiropractic, and reiki services are available.
